The Mediolanum Group discloses the Q1 2000 Final Results

Today Mediolanum S.p.A. Board of Directors met and approved the interim company accounts and Group consolidated accounts for the first three months of 2001, showing a very good performance.

  • Consolidated net profits, including the controlled group Fibanc in Spain, was 26 mn Euro (50 bn Lira).

  • Total consolidate net revenues stood at 443 mn Euro (858 bn Lira).

  • Consolidated Assets under Administration, despite the negative effect due to the stock market performance, reached 18,423 mn Euro (35,673 bn Lira) against 14,197 mn Euro (27,489 bn Lira) as of March 31, 2000, growing by +30% in twelve months.

    Excluding Fibanc, the main results are as follows:

  • Total consolidated assets under administration grew by 15% to 16,323 mn Euro (31,607 bn Lira).

  • Total Net Inflows, including life insurance, mutual funds and managed accounts, and bank direct and indirect inflows, totalled 940 mn Euro (1,820 bn Lira), in line with last year, of which 454 mn Euro (880 bn Lira) relate to managed savings and 486 mn Euro (940 bn Lira) relate to administered assets.

  • Gross Premiums Written reached a total inflow of 364 mn Euro (704 bn Lira) compared to 283 mn Euro (547 bn Lira) for the same period in 2000 (+29%).
    New production totalled 241 mn Euro (468 bn Lira) compared to 182 mn Euro(351 bn Lira) in 2000, an increase of +33%.
    New Recurring Premiums amounted to 44 mn Euro (85 bn Lira) compared to 22 mn Euro (42 bn Lira) in 2000, an increase of +99%.

  • Mutual Funds and Managed Accounts posted gross inflows of 786 mn Euro (1,521 bn Lira) down -31% respect to first quarter 2000 1,135 mn Euro(2,198 bn Lira). It should be noted that gross inflows into Managed Accounts grew by 107% 372 mn Euro (720 bn Lira) with respect to March 31, 2000 (180 mn Euro, 349 bn Lira).
    Net Inflows, however, were positive at 229 mn Euro (443 bn Lira) and substantially in line with the results for first quarter 2000 (- 4%), 240 mn Euro (464 bn Lira) for the same period in 2000.

  • Direct inflows from Banca Mediolanum clients reached 333 mn Euro (645 billion Lira) showing an increase of +83% 182 mn Euro (352 billion Lira) with respect to the same period 2000.
    Total active Bank Accounts were 242,922 as of March 31, 2001, compared to 160,654 for the same date last year, growing by +51%.

  • Total First account holders came to 659,000 as of March 31, 2001, compared to 526,100 for the same date last year showing an increase of 25%.
    New clients acquired totalled 39,800 for the first quarter compared to 31,000 clients new to Mediolanum for the first quarter 2000 (+28%).

  • As of March 31, 2001, the Sales Network of the Mediolanum Group consisted of 6,985 agents (with an increase of +41% on a total of 4.940 as of March 31, 2000), divided as follows: 5,388 Banca Mediolanum advisors (+29% in twelve months) - of whom 3,163 are licensed financial advisors - and 1,597 Partner Time part-time insurance agents (+108% in twelve months).

    With reference to Fibanc the net profit of the Spanish group for the period came to 0.6 mn Euro (1.1 bn Lira).
    Assets under Administration were 2,100 mn Euro (4,066 bn Lira) and Net Inflows totalled 25 mn Euro (49 bn Lira).
